Barnsley College is a multi-site complex spread across the town centre. It had a number of buildings with ageing analogue CCTV systems.
The problem they faced was that the guards were based on one site, which meant that by the time they had responded to an intruder alert, or vandalism and arrived at the scene, the crime had been committed and the culprits had fled. The problem was compounded by the very poor quality of completely unusable CCTV footage when it came to investigating the incident.
WRS designed a digitally based system with fully functioning dome cameras and centrally located monitoring that used the College's existing PC networks so there was no need for a complete infrastructure build. This was not only an effective and efficient strategy it also saved the customer money in the process.
The customer now has a fully integrated cross-site security system that has enhanced the guarding services and is now capable of preventing breaches of security rather than reacting to them.
Firth Rixson is a world leader in specialist high-grade steel production that is used by the aerospace industry. Although the company had a security system in place it did not have anything capable of monitoring and tracking its highly valuable stock.
WRS built a custom designed stockyard and secured it with an Electronic Security System that included physical and technological elements. The system features automated gates, access control, CCTV and intruder detection. The system is capable of detecting and recording any movement within the compound so that the client has full confidence that the stock is where it should be at all times.
With the added benefit that anyone entering the site requires a personally identifiable access card, the customer is now looking at extending the security to other sites.
This shopping centre in North Nottinghamshire had become a haven for the local criminal element once they realised that it was the only town centre area without CCTV coverage. As such, they used it as a bolthole and as an easy target for theft.
WRS worked with other partners in the town centre to link a new CCTV and detection system to the surrounding network of ones that protected other businesses in the area. In addition to the fully digital CCTV system, and infrared detection system, the system also has a public address system with an integrated emergency evacuation warning system.
This means that as well as now being protected by a high-quality security system, the shopping centre can be cleared quickly in the event of any emergency situation.
